Personal Trainer = Devils Spawn

I am convinced of it!!!

Now I know why all the folks on Jillians Biggest Loser hate her at first and cry like babies!!

Personal trainers are PURE EVIL…

But a neccessary evil.

So I met with my first ever personal trainer today. One hour later, I am a big old jiggly mess. My arms and legs feel like a giant bowl of jello. Someone call Bill Cosby!!

Seriously. She kicked my ass…

And I FEEL GREAT!!!

I sweated like a pig.

Felt sick to my stomach.

But I did EVERYTHING she asked me to do. She was awesome in an evil kind of way…LOL…

I get two more sessions with her…And then I have to pay. I would love to have a personal trainer, but lets be real. I can not, at this point in my life, afford a 100 bucks an hour for her services.

But, I did learn some things today.

I have never really worked my legs at the gym. Because my legs, calves, are already strong, and kind of big. So I focused on only my arms. She scolded me for this.

Apparently, a large portion of your muscle mass is in your legs, and by working them, and increasing your muscle mass there, you increase your ability to burn more calories!!! It makes sense to me…

Also. I had to get on the dreaded scale.

OH MY GOD.

I have not been on a scale since August. Truly. I have been hiding from my scale.

The bad news is, I am still fat!!!!

The good news is, I have absolutely maintained through the last FOUR months.

Buddies. This is remarkable!!

I have done NOTHING since August as far as diet and exercise. I have had nothing but stress and depression. And to come through that all with a MAINTAIN. Well…I WILL TAKE IT!!!

So I am not where I was. Or where I want to be, but it could have been OH SO MUCH WORSE.

In my head, I had myself back up to 250. Truly. Convinced of it.

Well.

I am not.

So. I have the numbers. I have the tools now. I just need to keep on keeping on.

I FEEL GOOD BUDDIES…Day one is starting off great…Now I only need to do this for 355 more days…WOOT!!!

LOL!! I’m a personal trainer and my clients nicknamed me “Jillian” :o. They curse me during the workout but at the end…they thank me and tell me I Rock :D. $100/per hour…WOW!! That’s EXPENSIVE! I only charge $35-$50 (depending on thier location). Anyway…best of luck to you hun and keep kickin it at the gym!!! :D

best thing about depression… you lose your appetite… that’s what I’ve found in the past few weeks.

I am delighted you have started working out like this. You will learn so much from the personal trainer in the next 2 sessions, you’ll be able to keep working on her tips for the next few months and see a great result.

Dawnie! So happy you joined Worlds Gym and going out there and doing it.

Whoot whooot to maintaining! That is great; better then a gain any day.

Enjoy your three visits with the Evil PT. hehe
If I could afford a trainer I would do it too. What about classes? Do they have some you can take? You share your instructor with 30 or 40 other people, but at least you have someone doing all the thinking for you.

I love working my legs! I have noticed such a difference since I focused more on weight training. My boyfriend and I joke that the exercisers behind the trainer in my workout DVD’s end up looking at the trainer like they’re contemplating smacking her upside the head, or wondering why they got roped into the workout :) It’s good you have a few sessions to learn a few tricks from the trainer, even if you can’t keep working with her.

Great job kicking it in gear with your personal trainer. I’d love to do that! Looking forward to hearing any more tips she gives you in terms of what the best way to work out, etc… Keep up the great work!

I have one of those evil PT too. I am glad Biggest Loser is over, she used to watch the show and I could tell that she was learning from Jillian. ;) But I am glad she is that way. I love her! The best money I ever invested. :D I have somebody who will kick my butt and not feel a bit bad about it, makes sure that I do all my workouts the right way and best of all, nobody can see me doing the jumping jacks (not a great site let me tell ya ;) . But wow 100/hour that is expensive. Well, try to get as much as possible out of here so you can do the same at home. Or if you don’t mind being around others (something I have a big problem with) do classes like Nancy said. Keep going to are doing an amazing job! :D

You are so funny and reading your blog today conviced me that I should go ahead and get my personal trainer’s certification. I want to make sure that I can provide AFFORDABLE personal training and I would love to do it for people like us, who need a personal trainer for weight-loss. Ok, if I was having any doubts, I can get them off my mind, I am off to e-mail the director of the program and make the commitment! Thanks for giving me that extra push I needed Dawn, I bet that was the farthest thing from your mind when you wrote this blog, but it just goes to show how a blog make a world of difference to someone!

I am glad that you are excited about you exercise regimen again and let’s make a pledge for 2009—-to not focus so much on the scale and to focus on the progress we make, physically and mentally and on the smaller sizes we will be wearing come this time next year, yes?

Now, I need an update on your life in Flo-rida!

I think the fact that you maintained shows awesome progress. It shows you MUST have done things differently…maybe without even knowing it. Maybe things you have learned along the way are now HABIT.
    Enjoy the JELLO effect :)

I am still scared to get a personal trainer.
I think it’s great you didn’t gain any weight, it means you have made the long lasting changes!!!! I hope I can say that someday..

    Thanks ladies!!

Yes, she is pricey…The price goes down if I buy more sessions, but either way I cant justify it yet…

Jo, I am sooo pulling for you with your certification…I swear, if I ever win this battle, I would like to do something like that as well, be a trainer, or guide for people who need to lose weight CHEAPLY…

    Take care ladies…

Keep on going day by day! I love getting my ass kicked by personal trainers, i, too wish i could afford it (plus babysitting), but not right now. we have to kick our own asses. congrats on getting through with that maintain. hope things are looking up for you, too!
