Movin’ Right Along…

rn

Well, as the blog title suggests, I am indeed, FINALLY movin? right along?

rn

rn

I got on and off the scale three times, in disbelief?

rn

rn

I have finally, after three months, reached the 170?s!!!!

rn

rn

I can hardly believe it. I felt yesterday as if I was destined to be 180 for life?UGH?Now I am four pounds from my next mini goal. And I think I will reach it soon?

rn

rn

Here is what I did different:

rn

rn

* I had a good friend give me a wake up call and a truth telling.

rn

* I increased my calories from 1200 to 1300 per day.

rn

*  I remained faithful and committed to my exercise, and I am now essentially exercising three times a day?Which equals roughly an hour and a half per day.

rn

*  I laid off the beer.

rn

*  I revamped my food journal and started back to basics by measuring my food and looking up, on line, the actual calories of everything that went in my mouth.

rn

*I stopped lying to my journal, myself, and others?

rn

rn

I will continue to do these things for the next few months to see if I still can keep going.

rn

rn

Buddies?I can?t even tell you how I feel. I have sat here for the last few months, reading blogs, forums, etc?Seeing some of you lose 3-5 pounds per week? And I just kept sinking lower and lower wondering why my loss had slowed soooo much?I just couldn?t get it?

rn

rn

I truly felt I was doing everything the same as I had been doing since the fall. I did?

rn

rn

It was only when someone outside my own box had the courage to step up and be honest with me, to give me a different perspective, that I realized that no, I had not been doing the same?I had little by little slacked off on a lot of my key elements? And added in new somewhat harmful things, without making any further adjustments to my plan. I suppose I knew on some level I was doing this, but I refused to acknowledge it?

rn

rn

So I am glad to now be FIRMLY back on track?I am very much looking forward to reaching my mini goal and enjoying the 70?s for a while. I hear they were GROOOOOVY!!!!

rn

rn

So the lesson for the day kids, is, if you have NOT been losing weight for some time?Take a good long hard look at yourself?Call in a trusted third party if you have to, and most of all, be honest? With others, yes, most most importantly, to yourself?

rn

rn

Fozie, this ones for you:

rn

rn

Movin’ right along in search of good times and good news,
With good friends, you can’t lose,
This could become a habit.
Opportunity knocked once, let’s reach out and grab it,
Together we’ll nab it.
We’ll hitch-hike, bus, or yellow cab it.

Movin’ right along, foot-loose and fancy free.
Gettin’ there is half the fun; come share it with me.
Movin’ right along (doog-a-doon, doog-a-doon)
We’ll learn to share the load.
We don’t need a map to keep this show on the road.

Movin’ right along, we’re truly birds of a feather,
We’re in this together, and you know where you’re goin’.
Movie stars with flashy cars and life with the top down.
We’re stormin’ the big town.
Yeah! Storm is right, should it be snowin’?

Movin’ right along, foot-loose and fancy free.
You’re ready for the big time, is it ready for me?

Movin’ right along
Movin’ right along

Good for you Dawnie!  I know I lie to myself abut what I’m really having: I think, that one tablespoon of icecream didn’t really count, that mayonnaise I had on my sandwich isn’t worth adding into my journal.  But it is exactly those little things that stop us losing the weight.  You seem to be an inspiration to a lot of people.  You have a beautiful, open, friendly face and I wish you lots of luck!  Lilly

That is great.  We all talk ourselves into not adding every little thing and you are right that does hurt us more than we realise.  Keep it up you will be at your next goal before you know it.

You are a true star .  I knew you would make it there.   Thanks for sharing the changes you made because from time to time we will all find ourself in a similar situaiton and remember what worked for you.  When dropped to 172 a few years back and was able to wear size 12 jeans in comfort — I felt too “content” and instead of pushing myself to keep going I let the weight creep back on and it wasn’t by stuffing my face or neglecting my exercise all together, it was a lot of “little” things so I can relate to everything you said.

This is awesome, Dawnie, I too, am battling to get to the 170’s.I want this so bad,. and I can feel I’m losing inches, but I feel doomed to be 182 forever!!! You INCREASED your calories??? Hmmmm. Congrats, though!

  12. Julia @ April 27th, 2007

    too true, too true.

We really do need to be honest with ourselves, there’s just no way around it.  I am glad to hear how much you’re exercising!  That is about what I am doing too.  While I don’t exactly enjoy it, I am glad to be able to be doing it, unlike those who can’t even get out of bed without special cranes, like on that show.  Of course, when the exercising is over with for the day, you feel so damn good about yourself that it is all worth it!  I know giving up the beer is going to be hard.  Are you going to allow yourself to have it one day a week?  I know allowing myself a “cheat day” once a week is really helping me along.
Anyway, CONGRATS on reaching the 170’s!!!    I knew you were going to be getting there very soon.  I can hardly wait to get there myself…but that will be quite some time to come still.
