Very interesting article. It is exactly correct on how females react to one another. I know that I do that. Not very positive, is it?

Well, I have to say that there are exceptions. Actually a lot of variations.  I think the article kinda missed out on the comedy aspect a little. How they describe these interactions happens sometimes, but I think the older the woman, the more comedy gets imbued and that’s where the bonding comes in. And I am not so sure that the exceptional women get shunned so readily if they like their bodies. If anything, those that are being negative sometimes start to see the viewpoint of the positive one and commend her for having confidence.

Very interesting article!  Sad but true.  This sentence in particular stood out to me: Fat talk also allows females to appear modest, a prized quality in a culture that shuns egotism.  I always have been that way and know that my trying to think so little of myself helped me get to how fat I am today.  It is one of the things I’ve been trying so hard to work on.  Liking myself enough that I treat my body the way it should be treated.  It is so wrong that we’ve always viewed that as egotism, as a bad thing.

Thanks for the info.  It is so true.  I am trying to learn how to like myself again.

Wow…we all know we do it, but when it’s written out like that it doesn’t sound very healthy or productive, does it?  We’re so used to the casualness of it, that we don’t think about the real implications of using that kind of talk over & over, until we really believe that that’s what defines us.  Thanks for sharing that article, Dawn.

YEah, I dont neccessarily agree with the whole article, but I do know that me and my girlfriends inevitably will talk about our weight, appearance, etc, at least ONCE every time we hang out…I think its an epidemic!

We sure spend a lot of our energy on it, our appearance…Thats for sure!

I couldn’t agree more with this:  “…and spend more time learning, helping, educating, leading, solving problems, rising to positions of influence and contributing to society in general” ~ these are the women I choose to sorround myself with.    My girls are the THE bomb!!!
