I believe…

rn

These are the things I do not care so much for about myself:

rn

rn

?  I am impatient

rn

?  I don?t like my eyelids

rn

?  I have a fierce temper

rn

?  I am too sensitive

rn

?  I take things too personally

rn

?  I don?t like my belly

rn

?  I HATE my hair

rn

? And I deplore my severe case of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder)

rn

rn

These are the things that I like about me:

rn

rn

?  My eyes

rn

?  My nose

rn

?  My heart-It?s softer then first assumed

rn

?  I like that I volunteer to help animals. They can not speak, so I speak on their behalf

rn

?  My loyalty

rn

?  My resourcefulness

rn

?  My sense of humor

rn

?  My stubbornness

rn

?  My quirkiness

rn

?  I like that I often do not lead, and I do not follow, I simply do my own thing

rn

?  I like that I am not boring or ordinary

rn

?  I like my legs

rn

?  I like that I act and feel much younger then the numbers say I am

rn

?  I like that I am not afraid to be myself in a world that often doesn?t allow us to be so

rn

?  I like my determination

rn

?  I am a hard worker

rn

?  I am a survivor

rn

?  I am fun

rn

rn

The first list, I shall work on, always? The second list far outweighs the first list, and I shall focus on that as I continue on my life?s path?

The point of this blog:

rn

All of us, on the outside, are as different as night and day?Different skin color, different upbringings, different beliefs, values, religions, sexual preferences? On, and on, and on?

rn

rn

But inside, we are more alike then we could ever imagine? We all, inside, have fears and insecurities that we must conquer in order to survive and thrive in this thing called life?

rn

rn

Theme song for today:

rn

rn

?We are all the same
Human in all our ways and all our pain
There’s a love that could fall down like rain
Let forgiveness wash away the pain
And no one really knows what they are searching for
This world is crying for so much more

rn

We believe
In this love?

  2. Mary @ February 1st, 2007

Golly Dawnie…we have a lot of the same likes and dislikes about ourselves!

Great blog!  Very insightful, and a window into Dawnie!

i bow down to u, dawnie. ur such an inspiration to all.

Yes the LIKE List Is far more Important than your DO NOT LIKE list !

You are great and getting better everyday!

Your like list will keep getting longer the more you Look at your don’t like list and try to find something about those things that are not all bad, or are the reason that you put a few of your likes in the like list

Think about it ! Such as You don’t like your EYELIDS Well the first thing on your like list is your EYES! What is that? Your eyelids protect your beautiful eyes!

When I saw your Pic I thaught what pretty eyes. Never noticed your eyelids  lol

We all have things we don’t like about ourselves! Just remember to Love it all anyway!

Great Blog and I like the song !

You’re blog was very touching Dawnie, but I have to ask you….

Exactly what is wrong with your eyelids? I’ve heard of woman not liking their hair or bellies, but I can honestly say that I have never in all of my life heard of eyelid issues. They look fine to me.

    Oh…I’m loving MC Kermit!

  6. Dawnie @ February 1st, 2007

Well, Erika, if you must know, I have a HUGE hang up about them!

They are droopy and too big for my face…They are my dad’s eyelids…And I just dont like them…

If I was brave and rich, I would have the fat sucked out of them and have them lifted JUST a tad…

    Truly…I obsses about my eyelids a lot…OCD OCD OCD…

Yes, Dawn, OCD indeed. I agree with Erika, never heard of that one before, but then, I’ve heard of other crazy ones, too. Say - the middle finger, the earlobe - the number of things people can dislike about themselves is insane - and it is all in our heads, too. I really doubt anyone else dislikes your eyelids! I loved your blog - in fact, I think that a list such as that one has just been added to my weekend plan. I need to be really honest with myself and write down everything. You are such an inspiration!

I think that we will all always find some fault in ourselves. I think it is human nature to be critical of ourselves. But look at it this way if we all liked everything about ourselves we would all be abunch of conceited snobs. I would not want to live in that world. I think that imperfection humbles us. That being said I think that some of the things that are on you list of dislikes could have a positive spin. As far as being impatient some times it is just not ok to wait. There are times when it is ok to demand what you neeed/want when you need/want it. The same goes for the temper. Some times there are things that you just can’t and shouldn’t stay calm about. if you didn’t have those traits you might not stand up for yourself and you could allow people to walk all over you. And those cosmetic things can be changed. You can do almost anything with your hair, and you can change your belly, too.  And having your eyelids lifted is really a minor thing, and not as expensive as you might think. My dad had his done last year. Of course it isn’t something that is covered by insurance, but it isn’t that expensive either. Also it is a more common complaint than you might think. I really loved your blog. It was very inspiring to me. You are an amazing person!

Great blog Dawnie!!  I am so very thrilled for you that your posititves list is so much longer than the “improvements” list!  It would be great if we could all someday get to the point where we don’t have anythjing on that “con” side of the list, but while we struggle to meet that goal I think the next best thing is having the “pros” totally outweigh them!  Thanks for sharing. :)

What a wonderful observation.  Thank you for sharing this very important piece of information. It is true, we are different, but in our deeply, we are all the same, we have fears, insecurities, but we also have love in our hearts!  God bless you my sweet friend, you always have a way of putting things into perspective!
