Racing through Life…

Well, the funny thing is, I read Jo’s blog, and then Mary’s blog, who referenced Jo’s blog, and it struck me how we are all kind of on the same wave length once again…

rn

Which is what is so truly amazing about this website…

rn

Chances are good, at any given time, that at least ONE person out here understands what you are going through! And if your really lucky, several folks do!

rn

GOD BLESS BUDDY SLIM!!

rn

So anyway, on my long car trip to and from Chicago, I of course, read several Magazines…

rn

In the current issue of Weight Wachers magazine, there is an article in the back written by a young lady (Her name escapes me) who has been writting about her journey on the CORE plan for the last year.

rn

It is by far one of the best articles I have read in a LONG time. She talks all about how she had to learn to SLOW DOWN…

rn

Immediate gratification is NOT going to make you successful on this weight loss journey…SLOW AND STEADY wins the race…

rn

I read this article out loud to my DH as we were driving because it literally spoke right to my heart and my head…

rn

Because I get sooooooooooo impatient for my end to get here…WHY??? Why can I not simply enjoy all the effort I have put in to date, and enjoy my success so far???

rn

I dont know…

rn

But in last part of the article, she basically says that she still has bad days…And that its OKAY…

rn

If she succeeds even just 50 percent of the time while making her daily choices, she is still better off then she was last year…

rn

And seriously buddies, I almost started crying when I read that line…

rn

Because just being here, on this site, and active, means we WANT to change, and thats the first step.

rn

And I dont know about you guys, but I am my own worst, and harshest critic…I am sooooo hard on myself its ridiculous…

rn

So I am going to try to adopt that theory.

rn

If I have success 50% of the time, I am still a success…

rn

Because I am no longer sitting at home, stuffing my face, and watching the world go by…

Well said Dawn….wow…reading your blog almost made me cry…but I am sitting here at the office and I don’t want risking anyone asking a million questions!

Wow…..I don’t know what to say, other than, you really have hit a nerve….in a good and inspiring way!  I have this issue of WW and I haven’t read it, but I will now.

Can I get an Amen??!!  Thats a great way to look at it.  I can be my worst critic too, but we gotta learn to be kind to ourselves.  And thats how we are successful on this journey.  Every road of this weight loss path is bumpy, we might take a U-turn sometimes, but if we get back on it we are doing great.  Thanks Dawn!

Amen, Sister!!!  Slow down is right!!  That made me think about what Micheal says an old girlfriend used to say…”I want what I want and I want it right now!!!”  Well, sometimes we can’t have it right now, and if we did, would we really appreciate it as much?

And 50% just about describes me!!  I don’t feel quite so guilty now.  Thanks, girlfriend!!!!

I completely agree!  It is always much easier said then done but I think all of us are harsh on ourselves.  Sometimes when I get on myself about not eating the right thing or not exercising a certain day I just try to think about what I would tell myself if I was my own friend <—- I hopethat makes sense! haha..  Anyways, I would love to read that article, thanks for sharing

We always want results right away and when we don’t get we get discourage.  That is one thing we don’t see in ourselfs that we work so hard and sometimes we don’t see results but in the long run we will.  I am always in a hurry and I have found out that we when I am that way I don’t know much so I will too try to slow down.  Dawn you blog was very inspirational Thank you.  Take care

Wow Dawn.. That was an awesome blog.. I agree 100%  Sometimes we all go overboard.. I mean it is absolutely fantastic if you can stay on plan every day and get in that gym and exercise but you are right we all need to step back and take a deep breath and realize that life is happening around us and sometimes you just have to go with it..  Do your best and make your best choices and it will all work out for you!!  You girl are so on target with this stuff that I just have to smile and say you know what my friend Dawn really gets this weight loss stuff!!!  You really do!!! Keep up the good work!!!  I’m so very proud of you!

That was powerful!  Thank you for sharing! 50% is better then 0% which has been me a lot lately but no more!

    God Bless You!

Thanks Dawn for the reminder - slow down and enjoy the ride, that’s what I have to do.  Your doing awesome!  Thanks again for your blog.

I’ve noticed a lot of people mentioning that we are our own worst critics…and to be honest, that’s a lot of the value I find in Buddyslim - having my own personal cheerleaders who will always celebrate my successes with me, even when I’m criticizing myself and finding all the negatives I can.  BuddySlim rocks!

Also, I have to say, Dawn - you look GORGEOUS in those pictures from the wedding!  What a beautiful dress and a beautiful woman wearing it!!  I hope you felt great and enjoyed the day to the fullest. :)
