The Fellowship of the Ring…

The belly button ring that is!

rn

So, yes folks, I have a belly button ring…Something a little silly that I did for myself over a year ago for my 33rd birthday…

rn

Why would she do this??? you may wonder…Well, I will tell you…

rn

I really thought at the time that it would help me with my weight loss. I had always wanted one. I think they look cute on the right belly, and darn it, I wanted to pretend for a moment that I had a hot belly… (I did not, do not, and will never have, I am afraid…)

rn

So I loaded up my three best girlfriends, and we all piled in a 3×3 back room of my local piercing/tatoo parlor…

rn

I had lost about 20 pounds at that point and was feeling quite proud of myself, but still very self consious, so I asked the young man, who was incredibly cute, and incredibly young if I was the largest girl he had ever pierced. He laughed out right and said NOT EVEN CLOSE. SO that made me feel better!!!!

rn

However, he gave me quite the lecture when I told him I was trying to lose weight…He actually didn’t want to do it then…Because he told me when I lose weight, the position of the hole will change…

rn

Well, I vitoed his objections and away he went…I told him it would be a long time before I got to goal, so just do what he was paid to do!

rn

Well, needless to say, it took me well over a year to get myself back on the weight loss wagon, so my theory of having it to help me was blown to hell…However, I have had much fun with it regardless, and the DH thinks its pretty groovy too!!!

rn

I must now confess though, that Mr. Tatoo/Piercing Hottie was quite right…MY HOLE IS MOVING!!!!! And I am most devestated…

rn

I am not really sure what to do about it all…Take it out? Get it re-pierced??? Decisions, decisions, decisions…

rn

My stomach is indeed changing with the weight loss and the nightly stomach crunches…Which is cool and all, but darn it, why is it affecting my belly button?!? Seroiusly, looked at my belly button yesterday, and it LOOKS different now…WHO KNEW?!?!?

rn

(Umm, I kind of feel like Mary with the toe discovery…I should have taken before and after pics of my belly button to compare the changes! HAH!!!)

rn

How incredibly odd is that??? Probably as odd as you all now think I am!

rn

Well, thats about all I have for now…Just getting myself recovered from my sickness, and worrying about my belly button ring! HAH!! The problems I have, eh????

rn

Take care buddies, and remember “The one ring shall lead them!” HAH!!!

rn

Happy Thursday~Dawn

I have to say that I am quite sure that is a problem I will never have. Who knew your belly button changes? Maybe you could call the place and ask them for some advice? I have to admit that I am totally out of my element here. I barely survived getting my ears pierced, so the thought of geting any other body part…..I can’t even think about it.

Depending on how well your skin heals/scars, I would consider removing it and getting it redone if you really want to keep your belly ring.

Well Sister, seems you do have quite the delemma there!!!? ROTFL

I think I?agree with Tamira.? I think I’d take the ring out, then when I hit goal, if I really wanted a belly button ring, I’d get it done again!

But you know, I didn’t get my ears pierced til I was 23.? When I was a teenager I wanted to get them pierced but my dad said not cuz I already had too many holes in my head!? Piercing

I would jsut take it out and then get it re pierced later.. Or you could go back down to a piercing shop and ask for their opinion, it sounds liek they are really thoughtful about their customers and not jsut in it for the money.? Great job with all the weight loss, it’s so awesome to see your body change even if it is your belly button!

Dawn, I think a belly-button ring is a great motivator, I don’t think it’s silly at all!!? If the hole is moving around on your new & improved, hot sexy tummy now, maybe you could take it out and get it re-pierced later when you’re closer to your goal?? It would suck to give it up for a while, but since you know now how cool it is to have it, maybe it’ll be even MORE motivational to want to lose the wait so you can get it back!! :)

    Dawn,

    ?

I did the same thing years ago when I started loosing weight the first time.? I had to take mine out as the waist band of my jeans kept irritating it.??? Yes you can take it out and repierce later but if you get it done in the same place then they will be peircing thru scar tissue which I heard is more painful.? Or you could get it peirced in a new place but then you will have more holes/scars in your belly button then you may want.??

    ?

Omg!? I fantasize about a new belly button mine looks like a frown instead of a belly button so that is one of the things I look forward too I am glad to hear that weight loss and exercise will and can change that area too!??

    ?

    Congrats!

i think thats great having your belly button done.? my thought would be to just leave it till you have lost the weight then get it redone.? i dont have mine pierced but i have my tongue pierced.? and i have tattoos.? anyways,? good luck deciding what to do.

My belly button is gross too.? Its like the inside doesn’t match up with the outside.? A lot of it is when I was pregnant with my 2nd, it stretched or something.? Its weird, I hate it.? But how cool is that!!!? You have a belly button ring, hmmmm? I’ve always had an adventurous side!!

    Dawn,

You know I really try every day to come out here and give you nice comments but please girl how can you give me a blog about a moving hole and expect me not to joke… ? That is like a slow pitch beachball being lobbed to me just waiting to be hit out of the park….?

I personally think you shouldn’t worry about it and just get another hot part of your body pierced ? Or do like everyone else said and have it re-pierced when you get to goal…?

Either way the flatter stomach is well worth it!!!? Great job on that!!

    Hugs,

    Scott

Well, I suppose the good news is that you’re clearly getting a J-Lo tummy and the painful news (yes, I got mine done too and it hurt like a mother and then got infected and I had to take it out) is that you are probably going to have to end up taking it out and re-done….ouchie…..

  13. Luella @ November 16th, 2006

??????????? Congratulations on the firmer stomach!? Take care.

I love belly button rings! I’ve pierced my belly button a long time ago on my own, but it’s grew closed now.? I would suggest that you just let it grow shut and then when your ready to get it repierced so it would look totally awesome along with your weight loss.? It won’t take it too long to grow shut.? Hey, I got an idea! once I lose weight I’ll get mine done too!!lol
